Come again...

Lady Gaga was on the John Jay and Rich show that I listen to on the radio in the mornings and at one point she said "Ya, my dad just had heart surgery and it was a really necessary surgery"...

When is heart surgery an 'unnecessary' surgery...

Pre-Halloween fun...

Stacie, Jillian and I had some pre-Halloween fun times this weekend! I planned on making little Halloween cookie bags for the guys I work with...so me and Stacie made some sugar cookies and then we all helped decorate them. Let me just declare that I am the worlds WORST sugar cookie maker....but they turned out ok. I mean, I can decorate them o.k., but the actual cookie never turns out like it should...(read: like my dads)...

A couple days ago me and Jillian bought little pie pumpkins at the grocery and so we decorated them last night too...

Here is mine...(it helps that I have some of the 800+ pumpkin patterns memorized that we use for the pumpkin walk)...

And here is Jillians...she did a front and back design...

And in less than 48 hours I will be at home where the real Halloweening will begin!!!!!

Confession #17...

Sometimes...instead of spraying perfume or body spray on in the morning...I just spray myself with my Aussie hairspray because I LOVE the smell of it...

Is it May yet...

My message today is not about texting and driving...because I have to admit I am guilty of it...

Rather...it is about what a piece my phone is. Here are a few example of why my phone is such a piece...

1. It randomly decides to shut itself off. If I shut it too hard, or set it down too hard, it shuts off...and any other time it wants to...it's SO ANNOYING...

2. Sometimes it decides it doesn't want to send a message right away...but instead saves it for a few hours down the road when the receiver will most likely be really confused as to what I am talking about since we have probably not been texting for hours...

and the most annoying thing of all...

3. It doesn't save the words I spell the most often when I am texting. My phone is set for predictive texting...so I just hit the number that has the letter that I want on it and it brings up the words most likely to be spelled with those letters. Most phones I know start to recognize words that you spell most often. So, if you are spelling a weird word, you might have to meticulously type it in the first few times...but after that it usually recognizes what you want to say. Not my phone. You all know Ashlie my roomate...well anytime I try to write her name it gives me Brilge...so I end up having to tap out A..S..H..L..I..E...instead of just hitting the number that corresponds with that letter (does that make sense?) Here are few of my other favorite words it refuses to remember...Alice (Algea)...McClintock (McCracken)...luscious (lurchour)... and now...'A'...
Here is why:
The other day I had to text half of the girls in my relief society to remind them that Sacrament meeting was first instead of last that next Sunday. So, I entered in all of the name and numbers of the girls so I could just send one message. Well, to be sure I didn't leave anyone out of the text, I put a 'c' in front of everyones name so I would recognized them as part of relief society (C standing for church)...well now, everytime I need to use the word a, it just puts a c there!!! For crying out loud!!! It refuses to recognize the name Ashlie, but now it always replaces the word a with a c just because I put a c in front of a few names!!! Give me a break!!

My contract is up in May and I can't tell you how excited I am to get a new phone!!

more cards...

Here are a few more cards that I made this past Monday...

This one lays flat, but expands and can stand up on its own...

Again....nothing amazing...but simple enough that they seem usable...

Dear 'Mom and Dad'...

I am wondering who 'mom and dad' is from the comment on my previous post. Clearly you aren't my real mom and dad, because my mom doesn't carve pumpkins (even though she does a lot of other really important things that week like bring us food and pays for me to come home!) and my dad wouldn't be offering to help since he has no choice in the matter. So, I'm just wondering who you are and telling you that you are more than welcome to come help carve pumpkins!! (unless you happen to be under the age of 12...)

In other news....I am having a very luscious day!! I am getting a lot of work done (so much so that I feel I can take a second to write a blog...) and it is so nice outside... Nice enough that I shut the air conditioning off and opened my front door to the office. And, the thing that I like the most is hearing all of the airplanes. I work probably 2 or 3 miles from the airport so it is really loud with the sound of the planes. I think I like the noise so much because it reminds me of being a little kid and going on vacation to Utah. When we would be playing outside I always remember hearing the sounds of the planes taking off at the Salt Lake Airport and I was facinated by it. So, I sort of like getting to listen to that sound all winter long... The only problem is that it sometimes gets so lound that I don't hear my phone ringing until it tells me I have a new messageor I look over and see the light blinking...

My weekend of firsts...

This weekend was a pretty fun one...(and interestingly enough I've kept my blog topics all starting with 'c' - canning, cards, and now CAMPING!! Stacies parents just bought a pop-up (or is it pop-open?) trailor. They went to camp and a place called Woods Canyon Lake (it's a couple hours north of here) and so me and Stacie drove up Friday afternoon and stayed the night up there with them in their trailor. It was my first time ever sleeping in a trailor. And, even though they have a heater in the trailor, it broke, so it was FREEZING!! Literally, it had to be in the 30's during the night...

Also, her dad took me and her fishing the next day...it was my first time ever fishing...and I really liked it!! I didnt' catch anything...unlike the hottie hottie next to use who caught 2 fish...right in a row!! I think I could like fishing...(maybe I'll change my mind when I actually have to touch a fish!!This weekend was a pretty fun one...(and interestingly enough I've kept my blog topics all starting with 'c' - canning, cards, and now CAMPING!!)

You might think I took this picure at the end our trip...but no...this was only after an hour or so there...I just look like skank...

So, another thing I did this weekend was go to the girl ask guy Multi Stake Rodeo and it was my first stake activity I've gone to since moving here. It was pretty fun...we had dinner and then saw a real rodeo thing where cowboys lassoed (?) baby cows!! Then, there was a silly dance and we had to stay for one slow song (the rule of our group that I went with). After that we went to Wal Mart and got pumpkins and stuff to make s'mores. We went to Anitas house and we ate s'mores and carved pumpkins!! My first pumpkin of the year!! Soon to be followed by many...many more!!

Then...today...Stacie came to church with me for the first time (she goes to her family ward normally) and then I went to a little activity my ward had called Cookies and Conversation for the first time!! I even made cookies!

show and tell...

So...I've been a really good collector of paper, stamps, ink pads, punches, ribbon and just about any other card making item imaginable...but I have failed in actually making cards...
For my moms birthday a couple months ago I made her a really cute card holder with a birthday calender and a few handmade cards...and I've been trying to keep up on my card making...
The problem is, it is so tedious because I keep all my supplies neatly organized in my closet, so to make cards I have to drag it all out, and then when I'm done put it all away again. SO ANNOYING. I would kill to have a craft room, where I didn't have to pack everything away again...I would be a crafting fool if I had my own craft room...but...alas...I don't, so I sit at my coffee table on Thursday nights, watch TV, and make cards...
We are having a service auction for FHE in a few weeks, and I said my 'service' was going to be homemade cards...so I really need to get on the stick with the card making...
Here are the ones I've made so far...nothing fancy...but I think that the fancier and more complex they are, they less likely you are to actually use them...
The top picture opens up and becomes the bottom picture...

calling all canners...

So...I am going to become a canner. Problem is....I have NO CLUE where to begin. Do I need special tools? Can you only can vegetables from your own garden? Is it expensive? Does it take a long time to can something?

So...I am calling upon you...my fellow bloggers and blog-stalkers...to help me. Any ideas or helpful hints or recommendations? Recipes? Tips? Books I should get?

Very good concert it was... go and see it you must...

So...I was able to go see 'Star Wars in Concert'...and it was FABULOUS!!! They had lots of memoribilia from the movies...including this hand written score from John Willians for The Phantom Menace...it was AMAZING...

I tried to take some videos of the concert...they didn't turn out so well but you get the idea...

Pity...party of one...

So...yes...I have been a crappy blogger lately (thank you Stacie for pointing that out)...

Here are a few updates on what have been pretty non blog-worthy week...

It's October!!!! My favorite month!! It is FINALLY cooling down here in Arizona... and now I remember that it isn't completely miserable to live here...

And...it being October...we all know what activity that brings around!!! THE PUMPKIN WALK!My excitement for Halloween must rub off because I have 3 people coming from Arizona to Nauvoo for Halloween weekend! My boss and his wife decided to celebrate their anniversary there after hearing all about the pumpkin walk when I came home last year! And...last night my friend Stacie decided too book a ticket and come home with me!!! It's going to be one fun week!

So, today is Saturday morning and I had a lot to do today actually...and with General Conference occupying 4 hours of my day...I got up decently early (for a Saturday) and tackled my to do list...
First on the list was mowing our ever growing lawn (we have never mowed it since moving to the house in June)...here is a before and after picture for you:

Ok... of course that isn't my lawn because there is no such thing as a lawn that green in Arizona ...well there is but you have to be willing to water it every day and ...no thank you...

In other news...I'm going to get frozen yogurt this afternoon...with a boy. AWKWARD. I am so not good at one on one boy girl situations. It's nothing to get all worked up about...it's a brother of Anita, the Relief Society President, and she had asked him to go with me to this silly girl ask guy Stake activity next weekend, and so I guess she told him that we should do something before the activity, so he called yesterday and we will be going to Yogurtland this afternoon. Good thing Yougurtland is so yummy it might override how retarded I will act...hopefully...
