I made two delicious things yesterday and I felt that everyone needed the recipe's for them. I can only post one at a time because I don't have the recipe for the soup in front of me...but I do have the one for the Lemon Cream Cake memorized.
1 pkg Angel Food Cake
1 pkg instant lemon pudding
1 1/2 c. milk
1 c. sour cream
1 can cherry or strawberry pie filling
Bake cake and then cut into bite size chunks and put in a 9x13 pan.
Mix pudding, milk and sour cream together and then spread over cake pieces.
Spoon pie filling over the top of that.
Chill.
Eat.
Enjoy.
This was SO EASY and SO YUMMY. And, if you use sugar free pudding and sugar free pie filling...and since angel food cake is already really low in fat...this deseret isn't that bad for you...as far as deserts go.
Following shortly...Vegetarian Vegetable Alphabet Soup....SO GOOD!!!!!

Shocking...
I'm sure those of you out there who are faithful blog keeper-uppers...when you are going through your day and your routine...if you are anything like me at all...when you come across interest situations, funny ones, a crazy story, or something that upsets you...you think...'Ok, I'm going to write a blog about this'...
I have had this blog rolling around in my head for while now...but I was trying to think of how to make thi stupid little fact into a cool blog...and I can't...but here it is anyway...
You know how when you walk around on your carpet with no shoes just socks on...and if you scootch your feet across without picking them up...you can shock yourself or someone...
Well this happens to me ALL THE TIME here at my office. And when I say all the time I don't mean 90% or 95% of the time, I mean 100% of the time. Every single time I walk through a doorway in the office and I touch it...I shock myself. And sometimes it is a big shock and I pass out fromt he current...not really...but sometimes it is strong enough that it makes my finger ache for the next little while. The weird thing is...my boss never has his shoes on in the office, alway just his socks and he NEVER gets shocked, and neither does anyone else.
I have decided that the best thing to liken it to is an Operation game. I have to be very careful not to accidentaly grace the doorway with my hand or touch it when I lean in to talk to someone...because I will inevitably get shocked...and I don't know what to do about it.
Sometimes when I am walking by a doorway...I touch it very slowly on purpose because it is cool to see the electricity jump from my finger to the door...very 6th grade science project like...but cool none the less...

A New Look At Life...
(WARNING: I have a problem when telling stories...and that is I get a little wordy. It happens if I'm writing a story or verbalizing a story...sometimes the details are important...and sometimes not)
I have two jobs as most of you know. I work full time for Metering Services (and I love it) and then I work part time for Lane Bryant (and I mostly love it)...
A few weeks back we were told at Lane Bryant that they were going to be issuing paycheck cards and that your paychecks would just be depoisted into that rather than given to you in a check form (I sure hope their rationalization for this wasn't to save paper because they still send us a fake checks saying the money was deposited elsewhere) If you didn't want the paycheck card...you needed to sign up for direct deposit. Since I pay my bills and stuff through my checking account and I still rely on some of my Lane Bryant money to cover bills...I got my direct deposit form filled out and turned in promptly.
The next paycheck we recieved was still in paper form. Then, during that week we all recieved the paycheck card...even those who have direct deposit got the card...so I just thought they sent it to everyone. I had turned in my direct deposit a few weeks earlier....so I assumed the next check I got would be going into my checking account.
So I went home to Nauvoo...paid some bills...bought things, just the normal things...and then I come home and pay a few more bills...got paid again at Lane Bryant...got the paper check thing in the mail and I also got a notice from my bank saying I had an overdraft fee...
To make a long story short (since I haven't even gotten to the point of this blog) I had assumed that those two checks would be in my checking account and they weren't...so I bounced...a WHOLE BUNCH of stuff. So...I am very much negative in my checking account right now and I don't get paid till Wednesday (this has been going on for about a week now)...
So needless to say I have been living the frugal life. No grocery shopping...no eating out...no treats...no $1.00 Dr. Peppers from McDonalds...and let me tell you that I think going from having money to having negative money is like quitting Pepsi. I had spending withdrawls. After my first few overdraft notices and I had a little breakdown about how I wasn't going to be able to buy anything for while...all I could think about was shopping. Everything I ever thought I needed was on my brain...new shoes...new work pants...gas...food...new pillowcases...more food...christmas presents...It was all I could think about.
But, I am here to tell you that I made it over the hump. I survived the worst. I am in the clear. I am living the frugal life ... and.... I sort of like it! I brought left overs these past few days at work and I feel a sort of satisfaction as I eat my re-heated lasagna that I am saving myself 6 or 7 dollars a day by eating those leftovers!
And...to top this all off...I have made some new life goals. I decided I wante to have my Chase card, my Old Navy card, my Lane Bryant card and my school loan all paid off by the time I turn 27. And...the only way to do that is to be frugal...but the idea of being free from those debts is worth 1,000 reheated lunches.
Let's just hope this all 'sticks' once I get a couple paychecks in the bank.

WHAT THE....
I HAVE NEVER POSTED TWO BLOGS IN ONE DAY...BUT LET MET JUST TELL YOU HOW PISSED (sorry mom) I AM RIGHT NOW!!! NOT ONE HOUR AFTER I BLOG ABOUT HOW NICE MY MORNING WAS...I WAS LOOKING AT SOME FRIENDS BLOGS AND CHECKING MY EMAIL AND...POOF...MY CHARGER STOPED WORKING. SO NOW...WITH EVERY SECOND THAT GOES BY...MY COMPUTER IS LOOSING ITS POWER AND I HAVE ABOUT MINUS 600 DOLLARS TO SPEND ON A NEW CHARGER RIGHT NOW! OH MY GOSH...I JUST GET THE DAMN (sorry again mom) INTERNET BACK AND NOW IT'S ONLY A MATTER OF HOURS BEFORE MY COMPUTER IS OUT OF BATTERY POWER!
THERE ARE NO WORDS TO DESCRIBE THE RAGE THAT IS GOING THROUGH MY BODY RIGHT NOW....
THERE ARE NO WORDS TO DESCRIBE THE RAGE THAT IS GOING THROUGH MY BODY RIGHT NOW....
It's about time...
Well...it's been a productive morning here at the Boughan/Nelson/Wilson household...
I woke up bright and early at 7:30...(I can neither confirm nor deny that it might have to do with the fact that I went to bed at 10). I finished a sudoku puzzle that I had been working on...then I drank a cup of crystal light and started a new sudoku puzzle...then the doorbell rang and who was it....the Cox technician coming to fix our internet problem! While he was fixing it I made pancakes for Ashlie and chocolate chip pancakes for me (I made an A for Ashlie...which is not near as cool as the dinosaurs my dad used to make...but I do what I can)...
So, we FINALLY have the internet (the tech said that the tech that came out to 'turn on' the internet the first time put a filter on it...and he shouldn't have done that. I hope Cox doesn't think that we are going to pay for both technicians to come out...cause we aren't) and we are full from delicious pancakes...
What a lovely morning...and it's just barely 10...

The run run run run runaround...
So if you have read my previous entries you know that I am currently without internet at my house because my former roomate took the modem for our internet. We have spent many weeks webless and Ashlie finally decided it was too much to take so we called Cox up and got our internet connected again. We were able to do this because our friend Whitney that works with us at Lane Bryant gave us her old modem that she had used for a previous Cox internet account.
So, Ashlie gets the modem...hooks it up...and calls Cox to push whatever little button they push to let us have the internet. Well...the technician on the phone says that the modem is still 'attached' to a previous owner and that owner has to call and 'release' the modem so we can use it. So...no problem...we call Whitney and she calls them to 'release' it. Well...they tell her that she was not the primary account holder. So she tells them it was probaby her mom or dads name on the account, but she was paying for it so she should be able to release it. Well...no...her mom or dad has to call in to release the modem. So...we have another modem that anohter friend gave us and so Ashlie calls and tries to hook that one up...but it is an old model and doesn't work anymore. So she mentions we have a newer modem that a friend gave us but that a technician at Cox told us that the previous owner had to call and 'release' that modem...well this technician says that that is not their policy and they have never heard of that rule. They said to have the friend give them a call and they will straigten this out. So...Whitney gives them a call again and she gets this whole run around again about how she is not the account holder. OK...fine...so she has her parents call in and both of them talked to a Cox technician and they say that neither of them are the account holders and the account holder has to be the one that calls in. But...they won't tell us who the account holder is...and it was definatly either Whitney, or one of her parents...so we are hosed. We have a stupid modem that can't be 'released'...and let me tell you...motems are $60...who has $60 dollars? Not me...no...definatly not me. What gets me is that 1/2 of the technicians she talked to said that there is no such rule as 'releasing a motem' and the other half say it needs to be 'released'. I'm about to release something...on someone...
So pretty much we are paying for the internet right now...but we don't have it because we don't have a motem...lame...

Trick or Treat...
I am sorry it took me so long to get these online for everyone...and the picture quality isn't good on some of the pictures....they look good on my camera...just not the slideshow...weird...
So let me sum up the week for you. I flew in on Saturday morning and when I got to the airport Tacy had made a ridiculously cute sign that said "Boo to you Katy Poo" and was waving it for all to see. I whipped my camera out to take a picture...and it was BROKEN! Which is OK because it was pretty old. Luckily I had gotten a bonus at work the day before so I had a little extra money to buy a new camera...so I did. Saturday night I got to eat at La Casa Salsa...which is the yummiest Mexican food ever. Me, Tacy, Sophie and Shannon went.
Monday I went to Wal-Mart and got my new camera...then in the afternoon we went to pick up the pumpkins. The scary thing was...about an hour before we were going to leave the farmer who gives us the pumpkins called and said that we probably should only bring 1 ton truck (instead of the usual 2 tons trucks and a flat bed trailer) because he didn't think he had anything to give us because he crop was so awful this year. Well...needless to say we went anyway with 1 ton and 1 flat bed and two pickup trucks and we managed to get about 350 pumpkins. Not the usual 5 or 6 hundred...but they were fine and it turned out well.
We spent all day Tuesday and Wednesday just drawing the designs and faces on all the pumpkins. It was my dad, me, Kathy Schoeni, Janene Dean and Sister Mecham who did the drawing. Oh, Tacy did do two cute dinosaurs as well. Thursday and Friday we continued to draw but had the volunteer carvers and cleaners down there as well. It went very smoothly and I think we had the best carvers this year than we've had in a long time. I can't think of any pumpkin that didn't turn out because of a reckless carver.
Saturday we spent the morning getting the streets set up and all that stuff...then at about 6 we lit the pumpkins and the parade started and it was just really fun! We had a professional auctioneer come in and auction off the 30 biggest and best pumpkins and that was a lot of fun to watch.
My boss and his wife have decided to go out next year for the pumpkin walk because I talk about it so much. They are already making the plans (I hope I can still get off work too! I didn't think about that!)
All in all it was a super fun week and I am so glad I got to go home for it. Especially since I work part-time retail and getting off for Thanksgiving and Christmas is nearly impossible.
One sad thing was that my best friend Sarah was going to come over from Indiana for the weekend but she is crazy hormonal because of her pregnancy and she thought she was going to die and her children would become helpless little foster children so they stayed home. (Sarah you know I love you and I am just giving you a hard time.)
I got home and a couple of days later me and Ashlie made some adorably cool Halloween sugar cookies. The most disappointing thing was I hardly got any trick or treaters on Trick or Treat night. And of the few that I did, about half of them didn't even have costumes on! Lame...I only gave those kids 1 piece of candy and I gave the kids who dressed up 3 pieces.....
So, that was my Halloween....
