FREAK NASTY...
7.06.2008
4th of July in the 'Burg...
(Note: these pictures are not in order of how they happened...that would taken a little more patience than I have...)
(This sign and the one below it are two funny signs we saw...DTR (for those that might not know) is also known as determine/define the relationship...this is talk that you supposedly have with your boyfriend/girlfriend to see exactly where the relationship is going....and the picture below is a company found right outside of Jackson Hole...)
(Waiting for fireworks to start)
(Mom...does that bring back memories?!)
(While we were walking around Jackson...at one point I turned around and there was this scene behind me...I thought it looked so fake...Like a backdrop from The Sound of Music or something..I don't know if the picture does justice to how fake it looked...)
(These are the Tetons...we drove though them to get to Jackson)
(This is my awful sunburn I got from watching the Rexburg 4th of July Parade...I wear my glasses now instead of my contacts so the sunburn line on my nose isn't as noticable)
(We had V.I.P. seating for the fireworkds...but not V.I.P. parking...so we had to walk quite a ways go get there....but it was very worth it...)
(Rodney got bored with the parade...)
(This is me waiting for the parade to begin....PRE sunburn!)
(Just hanging out at Rodneys)
That is a good summary of the weekend...Tacy will have maybe some different pictures and probalby some funny stories to tell so check out her blog...but give her a few days because I took her SD card with all the pictures...

My first double post...
So when I said I wasn't going to have another blog up until Monday or Tuesday...what I really meant was I will be blogging again in about 8 hours...I just had a really fun job interview and I wanted to tell everyone. It was with this company called Metering Inc.... and basically they install and maintaining water meters...or something like that. The point is that the two main bosses were out of the office...and so the two people who were interviewing me didn't really know what they were doing...but it was a lot of fun. The secretary there (who is moving to Flagstaff...and that is why they are hiring a new secretary), her daughter went to Ricks College...and the guy who was with her (he was probably early 20's), his sister went to Ricks too...so we chatted a little about Idaho and Nauvoo and it was just more fun than an interview. And, at the end of our 'interview' the lady (whose name is Joylynn) she said "You are just a peach...you're a doll" ...so...there you go...
Also..I don't know if you noticed my blog tracker on the bottom right of my page...but I got my first foreign visitor today...(excluding Canada...they aren't foreign)...from Norway...nifty huh!
Sesame Onion Bread....
1 pkg (1/4 oz.) active dry yeast
1 1/4 c. warm water, divided
1 c. warm sour cream
3 eggs
1 envelope onion soup
2 TB softened butter
2 TB sugar
2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp baking soda
6 1/2- 6 3/4 all purpose flour
1 TB cold water
3 TB sesame seeds
In a large mixing bowl, dissolve yeast in 1/4 c. warm water; let stand for 5 minutes
Add sour cream, 2 eggs, soup mix, butter, sugar, salt, baking soda, and remaining warm water. Mix. Stir in enough flour to form soft dough.
Turn onto a floured surface, knead until smooth and elastic...about 6-8 minutes. Place dough in a greased bowl; turning once to grease top. Cover and let rise in warm place about 1 hour.
Punch down dough...turn onto a lightly floured surface. Divide into 6 portions. Shape each portion into a 15 inch rope. Place 3 ropes on a greased baking sheet...braid...pinch ends to seal...and tuck ends under. Repeat with the other ropes. Cover and let ruse until doubled - about 1 hour.
Beat cold water and remaining eggs - brush over dough. Sprinkle with seeds.
Bake at 350 for 35-40 minutes or until brown.
This bread should not be eaten without the
Caramelized Onion Butter
1 TB diced onion
6 TB butter, softened, divided
1 garlic clove
1 pkg cream cheese, cubed
1/2 tsp minced fresh parsley
In a large skillet, saute onion in 1 TB butter till brown. Add garlic - cook 1-2 minutes or until brown. In a large mixing bowl, beat cream cheese, onions parsley and remaining butter until creamy.
So, that's that. It is obviously not 'weight watchers' friendly...but one slice never killed anyone. When I made the bread, I think I severely wounded the yeast because my bread didn't rise at all in that first hour, so I just braided it and cooked it without letting it rise the second time. It turned out just fine...it sort of has a bagel texture to it...not quite as thick. I didn't use sesame seeds and I also didn't use parsley in the onion butter.
I'm headed up to Idaho tomorrow, so I probably won't have a new blog until Monday...or Tuesday...
