Movin on up...

I just thought I would let everyone out there know I got a new job!!!

I had applied for a job working in the office of a water metering company around the 4th of July. I obviously wasn't selected for the job...they called me a couple days ago and told me the girl they had hired didn't work out and they wondered if I still wanted the job. At first I told them no because I was just promoted to assistant manager at Lane Bryant...but then I hung up the phone...thought about it for two seconds and realized I would be stupid not to take the other job. It pays $3.25 more an hour than Lane Bryant does...I get benefits and paid holidays and also a paid day off a month...also it's full time so its a full 40 hours a week. Compared to 25-30 hours a week with no benefits and all that jazz...
I will still work a few nights a week at Lane Bryant (so I can still get my discount) because I do like working there...I just really can't live off of that job alone.

I start Tuesday and I'm pretty dang excited about it.

Good thing I'm not PMSing...

So my sister Jessie just moved to Utah and my parents drove her out there and on their way back they drove down and visited me here... and they just happened to bring me some home grown tomatoes from my grandparents garden...
So today after a long day at work I was so excited to come home and have a BT ( I don't have any L)...
So I toast my bread, gather the mayonnaise, salt and pepper, cooked my bacon and sliced my tomatoes...
I smear on a nice layer of mayo onto my perfectly toasted bread, add my deliciously ripe tomatoes, and slap on my crisp bacon...
I take a huge bite and what do I notice??? My mayo isn't mayo...it's Miracle Whip. Sick....sick sick sick. Don't worry, I handled the situation with very few tears and I think I came away a better person...

I can't decide how I feel about this...

Maybe I'm a little behind on the times....but I just thought I would share with all of you that Harry Potter isn't going to be released at Thanksgiving this year...it has been pushed back to next summer...Crappy huh!

But, because of that...the release of Twilight has been moved up to November 21st...rather than December 12th (Happy Birthday Sarah and Kyle)...

Anyway, I am very excited to see Twilight sooner...but sad that I have to wait for eternity to see the new Harry Potter....

I don't understand...

I'm sure most of you might know that when I lived in Nauvoo....I was never found without chapstick.....Ok....I might have been found without it (a lot) but I was ALWAYS in need of it...

I don't think there has been a single instance since I moved to Arizona that I have thought...Man, I really need some chapstick...

Why is that....Illinois is humid and Arizona is most definitely not humid....you think it would be the other way around...

Here's my two cents...

I just thought I'd go public with how absolutely gross it is when people don't' wash their hands after going to the bathroom.....I think it is one of the nastiest things ever...

Compliments of Alayna...

Here are some picture from the birthday outing... no thanks to me since I brought my camera with no SD card in it...

The party: the back of the head that you see is Alice, then her friend Annie and her friend Malena, then Janalee (the empty spot is where Alayna was), then across the table is Stacie who I work with at Lane Bryant, Me, then Ashlie and Alices sister L

This is the man making my birthday balloon hat!

This is me sitting on the saddle that they make you sit on when they give you a big birthday 'Yee Haa!"

Let them eat cake! Again me, then going to my left is Malena, Ashlie, Annie and Alice.

The Cake!!! It looks like some disgusting ham and potato casserole, but it is really a german chocolate caramel cake!! So good....yet so bad at the same time!

And, here is one of skinny minnie Alayna, since she took all the other pictures... I couldn't leave her out!

It was a good one...

I just thought I'd report in on how my birthday went...
It was a very active email day! I got 16 birthday greetings from Facebook...plus a few on my blog...also quite a few text messages and phone calls...so thank you for those...

As far as gifts go ... I got way too many! I didn't really expect anything from anyone except for my mom...cause she loves me a lot...
From my friend Alayna I got a box of popcorn, a blockbuster gift certificate, and a king size kit kat (not helpful for the biggest loser contest...but yummy nonetheless)and she made me a super cute homemade card with a picture of Clay in it!!!!!...from my roommate Alice's cute friend Annie I got a Coldstone gift certificate...again...YUMMY!... from my roommate Alice I got the DVD Amazing Grace...wonderful movie and here is a little bit of trivia...if you have seen that movie..or if you are going to...the girl in it that ends up marrying the main guy...she also was born Aug 6, 1982...my exact birthday!...from my sister Tacy I got Sharpie pens...and if you know me you know I LOVE sharpies...but these are special pens and they don't bleed through paper, so I can use them in my checkbook and stuff...sweet!...and from my mom I got a garlic press, crystal light packets, money (thank goodness) and a really cool tile thing that says "It takes Courage to grow up and become who you should"...I love it!
And, as you may know...a group of us went to Texas Roadhouse for dinner and it was very yummy...but the melted cup of birthday ice cream pales in comparison to the divine German chocolate cake Ashlie made...oh my goodness it was AMAZING!!! I am almost embarrassed to say what was in it because I am part of the Porters biggest loser contest and it should not be allowed in the same sentence as that cake! Oh man...
So, there should be some fun birthday pictures to follow...

Oh, how could I forget, I assisted Jake in getting him an iPhone for my birthday....(ok, I had nothing to do with it) but he did provide me with a beautiful blog picture to look at...

So, in total, I received 8 things from my 26 thing list...and I think that is amazing since I didn't really need any of it! (I included a bulletin board in one of those 8 things because I went shopping that day to Hobby Lobby and used an old gift certificate that I had there to buy me one...so it counts as a gift! And, Shane gave me a free Pepsi at Extreme Pita...)

Happy Birthday to...

Andy Warhol
M. Night Shyamalan

Landon Pigg

Alexander Fleming

Lucille Ball

and Me! (that's me in the middle...exactly 26 years ago!) Now that I look at it...this picture must have been the winter after I was born...since I'm sure my parents wouldn't be all bundled up like that in August!

For your consideration...

I have decided who I am going to introduce in my 'introduce you to someone blog'...

I thought long and hard about this...so many good people...good blogs...to chose from...but tonight my decision was made for me. I chose Rodney. I know you are thinking....Katy....you can't just chose anyone...you have to chose someone with a blog...

Well guess what....he does have a blog!

This is Rodney Pierce...

We first met September of 2002...He has just gotten home his mission in Guadalajara Mexico. He and my dearest friend Sarah were super good friends before he left on his mission and so that meant that when he came home we were all going to be friends. And so it was...
Me and Rodney became pretty much inseparable that school year...we were both losing someone close to us (Sarah) to a marriage and we just sort of connected from there.

Rodney and I played many a practical joke on our friends....I still laugh out loud this day thinking about that silly candy bar dance fiasco...

Rodney has a very contagious smile (see picture below)...

Rodney is very committed to his work and is a very loyal employee...

Rodney is always ready to have a good time...no matter what is it...playing cards, watching the Cosby Show, or just hanging out...it is always funner (or is it more fun) when he is there.

Rodneys favorite color is dark green...

Rodney is a very talented cook...he makes really good chocolate chip cookies and also this other really good Mexican dish that he made for us a couple times...but I don't know the name of it. He also makes really really good sweet and sour chicken.

I remember one time he tried to teach me how to drive stick shift in a very scary and icy Wal-Mart parking lot in a very scary Honda Accord...he was very patient...

So...head on over to Rodney's blog (see the pre-mentioned link) and check out his latest adventure.... you won't be disappointed!

Birthdays all around...

This past week was my moms, my sisters, and my roommates birthday....so I decided to get crafty one afternoon and make them all some cute cards...

I thought some of you might like to see them....

I wanna talk about me...

Well....if you are my mother or Tacy you are of the opinion that I am the most vain person in the world. I disagree...but for the moment I am going to be a little vain...
My dear friend Kevin passed along a tag where you have to write a blog dedicated to someone and he chose...Me...(with a litte prodding from Tacy I believe)...
Nevertheless it is a neat post and you should check it out!

If the shoes fits...

I am getting ready for work this morning but I just needed to show everyone my recent find...
These purple shoes! I know don't have any money and so you're probably wondering why I am buying shoes when I am barely scraping by financially...well...for my job I have to dress up and we are allowed to wear flip flops as long as they are 'fancy' looking...so I wear the same black sparkly flip flops every day and needless to say they are showing a few signs of wear... and since I can wear these to work...I figured it was a wise purchase. They were also on sale....of course.

Anyway, I just wanted all my friends to know I now own the cutest pair of purple shoes...my life is one step closer to being complete...
