Don't be ugly...

(That title goes out to Tacy, and maybe Nathan if he ever reads my blog, but he might not know the reference, even though he was always the one that it was being said to...)

A little while back I posted a blog about how Adele was coming to Las Angelos and how I really wanted to go see her but it didn't seem very realistic. Well...they just added Scottsdale Arizona to her tour!!!! That is just down the road from me!!! I am so so very very much much excited!!! For those of you who don't know her, here is one of her songs:

On another note...here is a little situation that happened at work and I don't know how I feel about it:

Monday night me and Ashlie were closing at Lane Bryant and some women walked in and they had a few little kids with them. One of them was a boy who was probably 4 years old and he was sort of rambunctious (no clue in the world how to spell that word, but I really wanted to use it so I'm not changing it). His mom kept telling him to sit down and stop playing with things. Then at one point she says..."Do you see that lady by the counter?" and he says "Yes" and she says "Well, she is going to spank you if you don't stop messing around. She is going to get really mad and she said she will spank you!"

I don't know how I feel about a mother telling her child I'm going to spank them. Most kids hate me and I don't want to give them another reason to be afraid.

Nose rings and funny things...

The lady that works in the office with me brings her baby to work every day. She is probably 9 months old, and she loves me alot. Lately her thing has been to see how far she can get her little fingers in my mouth...she love my teeth or something. Also, she is always grabbing my nose. The other day she scratched it and now it looks like I have a little ruby red nose ring.

Also...here is a little funny video that I saw on someones blog and it made me laugh...

It's already Monday...

What a crazy busy weekend this one was...
Let's start on Friday.
I worked at Metering Services all day then went to Lane Bryant and closed there. After work the girls came over and we made Christmas cookies! There were SO MANY! I made a batch of dough and so did Stacie...so we had tons of cookies. Jillian cut them all out. (Starting on the left and going clockwise is Stacie, Whitney, Ashlie and Jillian)

They were so good that as you can see some people couldn't keep them out of their mouths! We finished with the cookies and got it all cleaned up by around 2...then we played a game called True Colors for a while which was alot of fun. Then around 3:30 ish we decided we should call it a night since we had a busy day on Saturday and Whitney and Ashlie had to open at Lane Bryant. Stacie stayed the night (she lives far away) and me and her started a movie...but as you can imagine that didn't last long.
I woke up around 9 a.m. and make two loaves of Braided Onion Bread for our work Christmas Party on Sunday. After we finished the bread me and Stacie went and got lunch for Ashlie and Whitney at work. Stacie went home and gave someone a haircut while I went to Target and got 3 presents for me, Ashlie and Whitney to take to the party on Sunday. Shortly after that we took of to Tucson to go to the Death Cab for Cutie concert. It was good. The two opening bands were awful...but Deat Cab was good! We ate at IHOP and then got home around 1 a.m.
Sunday morning me and Whitney had to work at Lane Bryant all day (and it was hell...I hate Christmas shoppers...most of them at least). We closed at 6 but it was so busy we didn't get out of there till 7. The work party was at 8 and we had to drive about 15 minutes to get there so I had to run home quickly and make the carmelized onion butter for the bread, Whitney and Stacie brought over dinner and we scarfed it down, arranged the bread tray, and took off for the party. It was fun and I will try to post a picture later so you can see all the luscious girls I work with. We got home from the party and Whitney and Stacie helped us clean our kitchen and by helped us I mean did it without our help. Then we just hung around and talked till about midnight.
Let me just say that 7:45 came awfully fast this morning. A fun time was had by all but it was sort of nice to have the weekend behind us now.

I looked out the window and what did I see...

... a big tree full of yummy fruit just for me!
So in our backyard here in Arizona we have an orange tree! Well...I think it's not an orange, I think it's some sort of combination of an orange and another fruit...and I'm not exactly sure what...but let me tell you...THEY ARE GOOD! The other morning I was trying to find something easy to eat for breakfast on my way out the door...and I didn't have anything really...and then I remembered our orange tree in the back and how every morning I wake up and see tons of fruit all over it and I decided to try it. Yummy! I bring two to work every day now and they usually don't survive the mornings...

Another thing we have here in Arizona are these lovely speeding picture takers. They are mounted at lots of red lights and now they are all over the highways...
I always get very nervous when I drive by one....

It reminds me of this...

I don't believe I have every gotten my picutre taken...and I think you know when you do because it flashes at you. Ashlie got hers taken the othere day and so did a guy I work with. He was in a work truck so they sent his picture along with his $180 speeding ticket to the office. It's ridiculous really. Even if I did have my picture taken I don't know if I would even see the ticket because my car is still registered to my grandma's house in Utah...
Someone told me if you are 'out of state' they don't send you the ticket...
I don't know how much truth there is to that...but since my insurance is already out of control because of 2 extremely lame and unjustified speeding tickets I got over a year ago...I will try to keep my car out of state as long as possible just in case...
Even though I can hardly stand the fact that it says 'Utah' and not 'Illinois'...

I don't have a whole lot to blog about these days...but nothing is worse than a never updated blog...so here are a few tidbits...

I realized I never blogged about my Thanksgiving. It was nice. Click "here" to read all about it.

This weekend me, Ashlie, Whitney, Jillian and Stacie are going down to Tucson for a Death Cab for Cutie concert. I don't know much of their music...but they are Ashlies favorite group second only to Butch Walker (and if you know Ashlie you know that means she LOVES them!)

On Jan 24 Adele is doing a concert in L.A. and I really really really want to go to it! I have loved her ever since Jake posted a blog about her earlier this summer. The thing is the concert is on a Friday, so I would have to miss a day of work which isnt' hte end of the world but I will have just gotten back a couple weeks earlier from home. Ashlie has Wednesday and Thursday off so she wants to go down earlier and go to Jimmy Kimmel Live. I think it would be so much fun but we have to decided if we can take a couple days of work so soon after taking a whole week off to go home. Probably not.

A long time coming...

I apologize for taking so long to get this recipe up...I thought I was going to get a power cord for my computer but ended up not getting one (that's another blog) and so I'm still blogging inbetween projects at work for the moment.
So...here is the recipe for Vegetarian Vegetable Soup...and it is SO GOOD! I have always wanted to be a really good soup maker, but all the ones I've tried have ended up extremely blah tasting. No flavor. But this one is so so so good...
2 TBS e.v.o.o. (I'm poor so I used canola oil)
1 large onion
6 cloves of garlic (I probalby used more than that)
1/2 tsp rosemary
1/2 tsp thyme
1 lb. frozen mixed veggies
3 oz. tomato paste
3-4 diced red potatoes
1 TBS garlic powder
1 TBS onion powder (all I had was onion salt and that worked)
2 boullion cubes (I used vegetable boullion, but that stuff is freakin expensive...so if you don't need vegetarian friendly food...you can just use chicken boullion or beef I'm sure)
a splash of vinegar
1 TB parsley (I didn't have this and it was fine without it)
4-8 oz dried pasta (I used alphabet pasta)
2 qts. water
In a 4 qt. soup pan, heat oil, garlic, onion and spices over medium heat or until you can smell them. Add frozen veggies, potatos, boullion, tomato paste and water. Bring to a boil for several minutes. Then cover and simmer for 20 minutes.
Then add vinegar, parsley and pasta and more water if neccesary. Simmer for 15 minutes, then cover and let simmer for 20 more minutes.
I did not add more water....I just used the 2 qts....and I also probalby added alot more pasta then it required because I've had my alphabet past for a long time and I was so excited to finally use it. Therefore...my 'soup' wasn't very 'soupy'. There wasn't a whole lot of broth...which I was compltely fine with. So, if you wanted broth with your soup...add more water when it says to...or just don't go overboard with the noodles.
I cooked up some breadbowls and served the soup in those...and it was scrumdidleleeumcious.

11.24.2008

There's more where this came from...

I made two delicious things yesterday and I felt that everyone needed the recipe's for them. I can only post one at a time because I don't have the recipe for the soup in front of me...but I do have the one for the Lemon Cream Cake memorized.

1 pkg Angel Food Cake
1 pkg instant lemon pudding
1 1/2 c. milk
1 c. sour cream
1 can cherry or strawberry pie filling

Bake cake and then cut into bite size chunks and put in a 9x13 pan.
Mix pudding, milk and sour cream together and then spread over cake pieces.
Spoon pie filling over the top of that.
Chill.
Eat.
Enjoy.

This was SO EASY and SO YUMMY. And, if you use sugar free pudding and sugar free pie filling...and since angel food cake is already really low in fat...this deseret isn't that bad for you...as far as deserts go.

Following shortly...Vegetarian Vegetable Alphabet Soup....SO GOOD!!!!!

Shocking...

I'm sure those of you out there who are faithful blog keeper-uppers...when you are going through your day and your routine...if you are anything like me at all...when you come across interest situations, funny ones, a crazy story, or something that upsets you...you think...'Ok, I'm going to write a blog about this'...
I have had this blog rolling around in my head for while now...but I was trying to think of how to make thi stupid little fact into a cool blog...and I can't...but here it is anyway...
You know how when you walk around on your carpet with no shoes just socks on...and if you scootch your feet across without picking them up...you can shock yourself or someone...
Well this happens to me ALL THE TIME here at my office. And when I say all the time I don't mean 90% or 95% of the time, I mean 100% of the time. Every single time I walk through a doorway in the office and I touch it...I shock myself. And sometimes it is a big shock and I pass out fromt he current...not really...but sometimes it is strong enough that it makes my finger ache for the next little while. The weird thing is...my boss never has his shoes on in the office, alway just his socks and he NEVER gets shocked, and neither does anyone else.
I have decided that the best thing to liken it to is an Operation game. I have to be very careful not to accidentaly grace the doorway with my hand or touch it when I lean in to talk to someone...because I will inevitably get shocked...and I don't know what to do about it.
Sometimes when I am walking by a doorway...I touch it very slowly on purpose because it is cool to see the electricity jump from my finger to the door...very 6th grade science project like...but cool none the less...

A New Look At Life...

(WARNING: I have a problem when telling stories...and that is I get a little wordy. It happens if I'm writing a story or verbalizing a story...sometimes the details are important...and sometimes not)

I have two jobs as most of you know. I work full time for Metering Services (and I love it) and then I work part time for Lane Bryant (and I mostly love it)...

A few weeks back we were told at Lane Bryant that they were going to be issuing paycheck cards and that your paychecks would just be depoisted into that rather than given to you in a check form (I sure hope their rationalization for this wasn't to save paper because they still send us a fake checks saying the money was deposited elsewhere) If you didn't want the paycheck card...you needed to sign up for direct deposit. Since I pay my bills and stuff through my checking account and I still rely on some of my Lane Bryant money to cover bills...I got my direct deposit form filled out and turned in promptly.

The next paycheck we recieved was still in paper form. Then, during that week we all recieved the paycheck card...even those who have direct deposit got the card...so I just thought they sent it to everyone. I had turned in my direct deposit a few weeks earlier....so I assumed the next check I got would be going into my checking account.

So I went home to Nauvoo...paid some bills...bought things, just the normal things...and then I come home and pay a few more bills...got paid again at Lane Bryant...got the paper check thing in the mail and I also got a notice from my bank saying I had an overdraft fee...
To make a long story short (since I haven't even gotten to the point of this blog) I had assumed that those two checks would be in my checking account and they weren't...so I bounced...a WHOLE BUNCH of stuff. So...I am very much negative in my checking account right now and I don't get paid till Wednesday (this has been going on for about a week now)...

So needless to say I have been living the frugal life. No grocery shopping...no eating out...no treats...no $1.00 Dr. Peppers from McDonalds...and let me tell you that I think going from having money to having negative money is like quitting Pepsi. I had spending withdrawls. After my first few overdraft notices and I had a little breakdown about how I wasn't going to be able to buy anything for while...all I could think about was shopping. Everything I ever thought I needed was on my brain...new shoes...new work pants...gas...food...new pillowcases...more food...christmas presents...It was all I could think about.

But, I am here to tell you that I made it over the hump. I survived the worst. I am in the clear. I am living the frugal life ... and.... I sort of like it! I brought left overs these past few days at work and I feel a sort of satisfaction as I eat my re-heated lasagna that I am saving myself 6 or 7 dollars a day by eating those leftovers!

And...to top this all off...I have made some new life goals. I decided I wante to have my Chase card, my Old Navy card, my Lane Bryant card and my school loan all paid off by the time I turn 27. And...the only way to do that is to be frugal...but the idea of being free from those debts is worth 1,000 reheated lunches.

Let's just hope this all 'sticks' once I get a couple paychecks in the bank.

WHAT THE....

I HAVE NEVER POSTED TWO BLOGS IN ONE DAY...BUT LET MET JUST TELL YOU HOW PISSED (sorry mom) I AM RIGHT NOW!!! NOT ONE HOUR AFTER I BLOG ABOUT HOW NICE MY MORNING WAS...I WAS LOOKING AT SOME FRIENDS BLOGS AND CHECKING MY EMAIL AND...POOF...MY CHARGER STOPED WORKING. SO NOW...WITH EVERY SECOND THAT GOES BY...MY COMPUTER IS LOOSING ITS POWER AND I HAVE ABOUT MINUS 600 DOLLARS TO SPEND ON A NEW CHARGER RIGHT NOW! OH MY GOSH...I JUST GET THE DAMN (sorry again mom) INTERNET BACK AND NOW IT'S ONLY A MATTER OF HOURS BEFORE MY COMPUTER IS OUT OF BATTERY POWER!
THERE ARE NO WORDS TO DESCRIBE THE RAGE THAT IS GOING THROUGH MY BODY RIGHT NOW....

It's about time...

Well...it's been a productive morning here at the Boughan/Nelson/Wilson household...

I woke up bright and early at 7:30...(I can neither confirm nor deny that it might have to do with the fact that I went to bed at 10). I finished a sudoku puzzle that I had been working on...then I drank a cup of crystal light and started a new sudoku puzzle...then the doorbell rang and who was it....the Cox technician coming to fix our internet problem! While he was fixing it I made pancakes for Ashlie and chocolate chip pancakes for me (I made an A for Ashlie...which is not near as cool as the dinosaurs my dad used to make...but I do what I can)...
So, we FINALLY have the internet (the tech said that the tech that came out to 'turn on' the internet the first time put a filter on it...and he shouldn't have done that. I hope Cox doesn't think that we are going to pay for both technicians to come out...cause we aren't) and we are full from delicious pancakes...

What a lovely morning...and it's just barely 10...

11.14.2008

The run run run run runaround...

So if you have read my previous entries you know that I am currently without internet at my house because my former roomate took the modem for our internet. We have spent many weeks webless and Ashlie finally decided it was too much to take so we called Cox up and got our internet connected again. We were able to do this because our friend Whitney that works with us at Lane Bryant gave us her old modem that she had used for a previous Cox internet account.
So, Ashlie gets the modem...hooks it up...and calls Cox to push whatever little button they push to let us have the internet. Well...the technician on the phone says that the modem is still 'attached' to a previous owner and that owner has to call and 'release' the modem so we can use it. So...no problem...we call Whitney and she calls them to 'release' it. Well...they tell her that she was not the primary account holder. So she tells them it was probaby her mom or dads name on the account, but she was paying for it so she should be able to release it. Well...no...her mom or dad has to call in to release the modem. So...we have another modem that anohter friend gave us and so Ashlie calls and tries to hook that one up...but it is an old model and doesn't work anymore. So she mentions we have a newer modem that a friend gave us but that a technician at Cox told us that the previous owner had to call and 'release' that modem...well this technician says that that is not their policy and they have never heard of that rule. They said to have the friend give them a call and they will straigten this out. So...Whitney gives them a call again and she gets this whole run around again about how she is not the account holder. OK...fine...so she has her parents call in and both of them talked to a Cox technician and they say that neither of them are the account holders and the account holder has to be the one that calls in. But...they won't tell us who the account holder is...and it was definatly either Whitney, or one of her parents...so we are hosed. We have a stupid modem that can't be 'released'...and let me tell you...motems are $60...who has $60 dollars? Not me...no...definatly not me. What gets me is that 1/2 of the technicians she talked to said that there is no such rule as 'releasing a motem' and the other half say it needs to be 'released'. I'm about to release something...on someone...
So pretty much we are paying for the internet right now...but we don't have it because we don't have a motem...lame...

Yawn...

Working 13 hours every day this week + finding time to clean and do all the neccesities like showering and shopping and eating + not sleeping =

Trick or Treat...

I am sorry it took me so long to get these online for everyone...and the picture quality isn't good on some of the pictures....they look good on my camera...just not the slideshow...weird...

So let me sum up the week for you. I flew in on Saturday morning and when I got to the airport Tacy had made a ridiculously cute sign that said "Boo to you Katy Poo" and was waving it for all to see. I whipped my camera out to take a picture...and it was BROKEN! Which is OK because it was pretty old. Luckily I had gotten a bonus at work the day before so I had a little extra money to buy a new camera...so I did. Saturday night I got to eat at La Casa Salsa...which is the yummiest Mexican food ever. Me, Tacy, Sophie and Shannon went.

Monday I went to Wal-Mart and got my new camera...then in the afternoon we went to pick up the pumpkins. The scary thing was...about an hour before we were going to leave the farmer who gives us the pumpkins called and said that we probably should only bring 1 ton truck (instead of the usual 2 tons trucks and a flat bed trailer) because he didn't think he had anything to give us because he crop was so awful this year. Well...needless to say we went anyway with 1 ton and 1 flat bed and two pickup trucks and we managed to get about 350 pumpkins. Not the usual 5 or 6 hundred...but they were fine and it turned out well.

We spent all day Tuesday and Wednesday just drawing the designs and faces on all the pumpkins. It was my dad, me, Kathy Schoeni, Janene Dean and Sister Mecham who did the drawing. Oh, Tacy did do two cute dinosaurs as well. Thursday and Friday we continued to draw but had the volunteer carvers and cleaners down there as well. It went very smoothly and I think we had the best carvers this year than we've had in a long time. I can't think of any pumpkin that didn't turn out because of a reckless carver.

Saturday we spent the morning getting the streets set up and all that stuff...then at about 6 we lit the pumpkins and the parade started and it was just really fun! We had a professional auctioneer come in and auction off the 30 biggest and best pumpkins and that was a lot of fun to watch.

My boss and his wife have decided to go out next year for the pumpkin walk because I talk about it so much. They are already making the plans (I hope I can still get off work too! I didn't think about that!)

All in all it was a super fun week and I am so glad I got to go home for it. Especially since I work part-time retail and getting off for Thanksgiving and Christmas is nearly impossible.
One sad thing was that my best friend Sarah was going to come over from Indiana for the weekend but she is crazy hormonal because of her pregnancy and she thought she was going to die and her children would become helpless little foster children so they stayed home. (Sarah you know I love you and I am just giving you a hard time.)

I got home and a couple of days later me and Ashlie made some adorably cool Halloween sugar cookies. The most disappointing thing was I hardly got any trick or treaters on Trick or Treat night. And of the few that I did, about half of them didn't even have costumes on! Lame...I only gave those kids 1 piece of candy and I gave the kids who dressed up 3 pieces.....

So, that was my Halloween....

10.31.2008

It's confirmed...

I've been keeping an eye out for my little old lady with the umbrellas and she does in fact have a different color for each outfit....

(Soon to come...Halloween Walk pictures...but I'm having technical difficulties getting them onto an comptuter with the internet...I am going to aim for tomorrow...but no promises)

10.17.2008

A Little OCD...

So you know how if you own a restaraunt or a Fudge Factory or just in your own person food supply you are suppossed to rotate your stock...you know...when you buy a new can of cream of mushroom soup you put it behind the one you bought 3 years ago so you use the old stuff first...

I find myself rotating our office supply stock...and I'm pretty sure there is no need for it...

For example...when I load paper into my printer...I always make sure to put those last 2 or 3 sheets from the previous bunch on top of the the new bunch...I feel bad for those last few sheets that might never get used otherwise...

Also...I rotate my paper clips. I have a big container of paper clips that sort of looks like a trivial pursuit game piece...it has 6 different colors of paper clips in it and when I first got in the office they were all mixed up. I took some time out of my day and separated them all and now I only use one color per day so that they all have a chance at being used. But it honestly frustrates me that only the top ones get used...so every once in a while I 'stir' up the section so the ones at the bottom get a chance...

I do the same with the post-its...binder clips...and even the clip boards in the office that we use sometimes...

I'm pretty sure this is a disease...and it could be cured with good medication...

10.14.2008

There's no place like home...

This week...and I know it is only Tuesday...but this week has been full of home references...
*Sunday in testimony meeting our bishops wife got up and walk talking about how they got to go to Nauvoo this past week...
*Monday at work I was on the phone with a guy named Matt and we were talking about what a crazy day it had been (refering to stolen backflow assemblies) and then he said...at least the weather is nice...and I said...Ya, I just moved here from Illinois and I was worried that it would never cool down...and he said...Oh, I moved here from Illinois too...(somewhere in southern Illinois I believe)...
*At Lane Bryant last night we had a lady in wanting to get some warmer clothes for a trip she is taking "up north"...so I was thinking Minnesota or Canada...no...she is going to Illinois and Indiana...I know that I consider that 'up north'...but it was an Illinois reference all the same...(she pronounced the 's' in Illinois...which bugs me...alot...)
*That same night at Lane Bryant I had a lady in buying clothes and she said that when she visits her son in Arizona she usually just ends up shopping all the time....so I asked her where she was from and ...you guessed it...Illinois...
*SHUT UP!!! JUST THIS VERY INSTANT MY PHONE RANG AT WORK AND THE CALLER I.D. SAID ILLINOIS!!! WOW....THAT IS AMAZING...(even though it is just a telemarketer)...
All these references to the Mother Land have made me all the more excited to go home in less than a week...Oh my goodness the anticipation is killing me...
Be prepared for a blog full of pumpkin walk pictures....my dog...possibly La Casa Salsa...maybe the Adventure Zone... who knows really...

10.09.2008

Tut Tut...looks like rain...

My job is located in Tempe Az...but every morning I have to drive into Phoenix to deliver some meter reads to the City of Phoenix...
And almost every day on my way back from the City of Phoenix building I see a fairly well dressed older Mexican lady walking down the road. She usually has on some sort of business looking out fit...a jacket and a skirt...and she is carrying a bag...and she ALWAYS...has an umbrella and it ALWAYS matches her outfit perfectly...
I can't decided if all of her outfits match the one umbrella...or if she has an umbrella for every outfit...
I'm going to pay closer attention because that is one item I have never thought to accessorize with my outfit...but if she has...then I think that is sort of cute...

10.07.2008

Public Service Announcement...

It has been over a week since I have had any soda...diet or otherwise...

I miss it...

10.06.2008

Well...that was rude...

I am sorry for disappearing without a trace on my blog...I know all of you have surely been in a quandry wondering where I have been. I'm still here...but I just don't have any internet at home anymore. My roomate who set up the internet at the house is moving out and she said she wasn't going to take the motem and router and stuff with her...but then she did...so we are out of the loop in our apartment...
I did have a few minutes before I have to leave work and I am mostly caught up on my work so I thought I'd sneak a quick blog in before I left...
Not much is going on...Just working a ridiculous amount it seems like. I'm trying to pay of my ridiculous credit cards and then I think I might cut back on my second job. But...maybe I won't.
I am going home in less than two weeks for...you guessed it....THE PUMPKIN WALK!!! I serioulsy wait all year for this to come....and I wasn't going to let a little thing like a few thousand miles get in the way. I'll be home for over a week and I am so excited because it will not be in the 90's there....I miss my dog...and I will get to eat at La Casa Salsa again...sigh...

9.25.2008

It has begun...

As much as I sometimes hate this show...I can't help but watch it season after season after season... And EVERY season I think of Jennie Mack, Alanna, Sarah...and all the Survivor fans back in college...good times...

Since I am all caught up with Prison Break and I have to wait an entire week between episodes...I have taken up a new show...( I promise I do have a life...I actually work a lot...sometimes 13 hours a day...) Now I watch Private Practice...and I really like it...
It is a spin off of Greys Anatomy (which I did not watch) and I am only 4 episodes into it but I think I'm convinced. The second season airs on TV October 1st I think...
There is just one minor issue...I am pretty sure there is no way I am going to have a fulfilling life unless I marry Taye Diggs and become the mother of his adorable children...

One final thought... why on earth when they have an article about Clay 'coming out' do they have to show this picture...this is obviously not what he is like in real life...so unrealistic...

For crying out loud...

I have been asked by many of you if I am doing ok in this time of ...distress...and I want to you all know that I am fine. Clay may never want to be the father of my children (which is good since I'm sort of busy with Taye) but he can DEFINITELY still be my best friend in the whole wide world and I still think he is missing out by not knowing I exist...

9.23.2008

I know....

...and I don't want to talk about it...

9.22.2008

Just a Few Tidbits...

Nothing major has happened in the past few days...but I thought I would post a few random thoughts and interesting things...

I'm not going to lie...I've been sort of nervous about blogging ever since the owner (who I NEVER talk to) of the Extreme Pita that I eat at all the time mentioned that he had read my blog. He said that the Extreme Pita headquater people had sent him the link to my blog...and he thanked me for writing such nice stuff about it. I was so confused on so many levels...how did he know that I was the writer of said blog...how is it that the company even stumbled across my blog... how long ago did they send it to him...but most of all I was just embarrassed because unlike cool bloggers like Jake and...alot of others...my blog isn't written well enough for anyone other than friends and family....not that I care who reads it...I just didn't think anyone else would WANT to read it...

And that brings me to my next point...I am a little weary of writing about another chain restaraunt...but here I go anyway. Every morning I have to take some papers into the City of Phoenix and on my way out of town there is a McDonalds...and I have a REALLY hard time passing up McDonalds breakfast at 8:30 in the morning...sometimes I do...sometimes I don't...
I was a little nervous about stopping at this McDonalds because I have to drive through a shady part of Phoenix and I was nervous about what sort of hoodelums I might run into...But let me just tell you that this McDonalds makes the best looking breakfast sandwhich I have ever laid eyes on... and I have laid my eyes on many a McMuffin in my time...

I watched the first 3 seasons of Prison Break and the first few episodes of Season 4 in a matter of weeks....and I am afraid I have been permanently affected (effected?) by this...I have found that my trust level for people has gone way down and I am constantly looking over my shoulder and wondering who is spying on me and who is really 'on my side'...

The other day I was driving down to where I work and crossing the crosswalk was a man on a unicycle...I was nervous for him...but he seemed to know what he was doing...

I am obsessed with handwriting...especially my own. I will write and re-write something over and over again until it is perfect. I write best with a thin tipped sharpie...but sometimes that isn't always practical because of the bleed through (except Tacy gave me these amazing no bleed sharpie pens for my birthday and they are perfect...but unfortuanly I used them so much in just one short month and they are starting to run out of juice...or ink if you will... If I can't find a shapie I write best with a #2 pencil...the kind you have to manually sharpen and you can only use that kind on standard tests...And after that I prefer the 'clear' barrel bic pens and then a clicky pencils and after that it's all about the same...

Today my boss was on the phone with someone so I was taking a message for him and I just wrote down...Becky...D-Backs...and then her number. I honestly went through about 10 post-it notes without even thinking about it because the first 9 times I didn't like how I wrote it...

When I finished and I realized what I had done I coudln't help but wonder how mad Ashlie would be if she knew I had waisted that many post-its on a stupid note and I didn't even plan on recycling those extra 9...and also if there is some handwriters anonymous I need to look into joining because this probably isn't very healthy...

I got ink done...and lost my car insurance...

I do apologize for going A-wall on my blog...I just haven't had a whole lot going on... but I will update you on the few things that are new.

First...I got a tattoo...of course the picture up top is not an exact replica...but it is a butterfly and it is on the back of my neck...Ok...not really...but about a week ago at work (Lane Bryant) I stabbed myself with a felt tip pen and it made a dark black circle...and it is still there...I can't get it to go away...and I fear it may be permanent...

Here is an example of what my job is like. I work for a company called Metering Services and my part of the job is to schedule back flow prevention tests for companies and contractors who need back flow assemblies tested... The above picture is what the technicians do (I assume...I've never actually gone out and see what it is to test an assembly) and the picture below is the program I use all day long...I just happened to find a picture of it on google and so now if you really want to picture what I do all day...just look at the picture below... It took me quite a while to get used to it...it is sort of confusing...but I really enjoy what I do and I am catching on quickly...

In other news...My lame-o insurance company cancelled my frickin policy. I signed up on August 7th and I got a letter a few weeks later saying that they were happy to serve me...but my policy has been cancelled due to the 2 speeding tickets on my record....

I just have a couple questions...

1. Why is it that when I went it to inquire about a policy and gave them my name and drivers licence number and all that jazz...they didn't see my two tickets on my record. It's car insurance for crying out loud...you'd think that would be the first thing they look for...and that is why I think I might not of mentioned them when I went it...I just assumed they would know that....

2. Is it really that impossible to have car insurance with 2 speeding tickets on my record...and one of them being OVER a year ago? I mean...seriously...I know there are people out there with WAY worse than two...

So, naturally I have been calling the company and they keep giving me the run around saying that 'oh ya...I just don't know how this could happen...let me give you a call back in about a half an hour'...well...guess who is still waiting for that call back...

What I have concluded from my few calls with them is that I am actually not cancelled...but that the two tickets didn't show up when they looked me up because they looked up Katy...not Kathryn...and some other bull crap. They said they could keep me on my current policy rate for the next 6 months...but it would go up after that. But they keep saying that they need to make sure that there will be no more issues...and they will call me right back...

Bull...

And...I just got a letter from my bank saying that they were informed that my insurance was cancelled and so that jeopardize my loan since I have to have insurance to have a loan...

Lovely...

So that is what I've been trying to fix for the past couple weeks...on top of working almost every day from 8am to 9:30 pm....

If anyone has any suggestions about who is a good insurance company who isn't going to flake on me...I'm open for suggestions...

It's about time...

There have been endless instances since I moved to the AZ where me and Ashlie have said something to the effect of "Hey... (insert band name here) is in town in a couple weeks...we are definately going to that!" or "Wow...(insert some interesting thing to do here) is going on next week...we are definately going" ...
But...our 'going out and doing something' experiances have been...zero...
Well...we leave the house and stuff on the weekends but it usually just consists of going to Extreme Pita...or Applebee's for happy hour... or the $5.00 pizza buffet down the street...or if we are feeling crazy...it might be a trip to Texas Roadhouse or The Pita Jungle...
But....this sad tale is true no longer....
This weekend me and Ashlie and Alayna are going to see JIM GAFFIGAN!!!!!!
I highly recommend going to YouTube and looking up his skit on vegitarians or cake....
It's too funny...

One more addiction...that's the last thing I need...

The other day my roomate brought home some movies she aquired from her friend...
One of those movies was the first season of Prison Break....

Little did I know how that would change my life...

I watched the first season in a matter of days and immediately went out and had to purchase it for myself because I knew I could not live without this TV series in my possession...
I just got the 2nd and 3rd seasons(the 4th season just aired last week) in the mail today and let me just tell you what a bed potato (I have to watch DVD's in my room) I am going to be as soon as I get off work every day... The funny thing is when this series first aired I thought..."Oh come on...how can they make anything past one season of someone trying to break out of prison...either he does or he doesn't.....LAME!".... But I take it all back...

I can't explain exactly what it is about this show that is so amazing...
It could be the cast of extremely beautiful men in prison uniforms...
It could the the plot that make me anxious every single episode to see what is going to happen...
It could be the cast of extremely beautiful men in prison uniforms...

I just can't put my finger on it...

I'm your Huckleberry...

My sister Tuna was out visiting me last week...and one thing she really wanted to do was go to Tombstone...mostly because TAPS (a ghost hunting show on TV) went there and she love that show...
So we went...and here are some picture to prove it...

Me and Tuna

These are picture of the worlds largest rose bush. It covers over 8,000 sq ft and and the circumference of the trunk is over 12 ft. You can see how big it is cause Tuna is standing on one end of the branches and I'm on the other taking the picture.

The Famous Bird Cage Theatre where Taps found some interesting things.

At one place they had a 'haunted' tour you could go on...Ashlie was actually very scared in that picture...don't let that smile fool you. And the shop owner let us all three go for the price of two!

And these two pictures are of Tombstone...it is a lot like Nauvoo in the fact that it is a real town where people live and make a living...and then there is pretty much this one road with everything 'historic' on it. There are tons of shops and stores all run by the local townspeople...but these people here were way nicer than a good portion of the shop owners in Nauvoo. They really live up their history...they all dress like cowboys or saloon girls and they stand outside their shops and they talk to you....it's really fun! And... I don't think it was prime tourist season while we were there (as you can see from the empty streets) and the weather was GORGEOUS! It rained while we were there but instead of it getting muggy and hot like back at home...it cools everything way way down. It was so nice. And Ashlie met a hippie that ran a jewelry story there and now they are best friends. She even bought a necklace from him and if you look close you can see me wearing it in some of the pictures. And by some I mean one.

Like I mentioned before...it rained while we were there...but on the drive home it POURED...it was sort of nasty to drive home in. But...once we got through it...look what we spotted! And...I must mention Tuna's good photography skills since that is through a car window with the car going about 85 mph!

Parentals and Storms...

I am a little behind on my blogging stories...

My parents came down and visited me on their way back to Illinois....and one morning we went to the Phoenix Botanical Garden...it was super hot...but not too unbearable because it was morning...and as a bonus...we got in free because my dad is a member of every horticultural society under the sun...

So, now this week my sister has been visiting me (Tuna...not Tacy) and I feel sort of bad because she has a minor fear of storms...and while Arizona ... from my experience...is pretty free of rainstorms...we do have a monsoon season and for a couple of days while she was here we had some pretty amazing lightening storms...
I took a video of the storm one night and it was pretty amazing....it was non-stop lightening...it sort of seemed like I was watching a movie with a war going on in the background because the thunder was was far away so you could just barely hear the thunder in the background...but you could see big flashes of lightening all over the sky...it is really hard to explain...and I tried to post the video but I have no clue how to do it...
(disclaimer...the following picture is not my picture...just a google image photo)

...soon to come....Tuna, Ashlie and my visit to Tombstone AZ...home of the worlds largest rosebush and a lot of other fun stuff..... stay tuned!

Movin on up...

I just thought I would let everyone out there know I got a new job!!!

I had applied for a job working in the office of a water metering company around the 4th of July. I obviously wasn't selected for the job...they called me a couple days ago and told me the girl they had hired didn't work out and they wondered if I still wanted the job. At first I told them no because I was just promoted to assistant manager at Lane Bryant...but then I hung up the phone...thought about it for two seconds and realized I would be stupid not to take the other job. It pays $3.25 more an hour than Lane Bryant does...I get benefits and paid holidays and also a paid day off a month...also it's full time so its a full 40 hours a week. Compared to 25-30 hours a week with no benefits and all that jazz...
I will still work a few nights a week at Lane Bryant (so I can still get my discount) because I do like working there...I just really can't live off of that job alone.

I start Tuesday and I'm pretty dang excited about it.

Good thing I'm not PMSing...

So my sister Jessie just moved to Utah and my parents drove her out there and on their way back they drove down and visited me here... and they just happened to bring me some home grown tomatoes from my grandparents garden...
So today after a long day at work I was so excited to come home and have a BT ( I don't have any L)...
So I toast my bread, gather the mayonnaise, salt and pepper, cooked my bacon and sliced my tomatoes...
I smear on a nice layer of mayo onto my perfectly toasted bread, add my deliciously ripe tomatoes, and slap on my crisp bacon...
I take a huge bite and what do I notice??? My mayo isn't mayo...it's Miracle Whip. Sick....sick sick sick. Don't worry, I handled the situation with very few tears and I think I came away a better person...
(If you have no idea why this is an interesting situation...click here)
